Former Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri who had gone into hiding is reportedly under medical treatment outside the country.
Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development chairperson Temba Mliswa revealed his current state but did not disclose the nature of the sickness or the country Chihuri is in.
Chihuri had failed to appear before the Mliswa led committe with the police unaware of his whereabouts.
His estranged mistress based in Bulawayo had to notify the media to publish a notice of the summons after failing to appear for a maintenance case in February this year.
It is reported that Chihuri wrote to the committee notifying them on his incapability to attend hearings since he is under medical treatment abroad.
Committee chair Mr Temba Mliswa said:
“The former Commissioner-General of Police has written to Parliament to say he is not feeling well and that he is out of the country. He expressed his readiness to come, so we will have to determine when he can come.”
The case is still to continue.
