IT was lights, camera . . . but no action! Prophet Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng’s Incredible Happenings show was due to air on ANN7 on Sunday night. But it didn’t happen because he dumped the Gupta-linked channel at the last minute.
The pastor claimed he decided to part ways with it because he discovered the channel was still linked to the Guptas, despite having new management.
Mboro said he will not be linked to the Guptas as he is a well-known brand and fears for his reputation.
He said: “My relationship with ANN7 started when I was approached to produce a show for the station.
“I was supposed to start on Sunday but there were issues I wasn’t happy with since I discovered its history with the Guptas.
“They are still with the channel.
“When I realised it still had something to do with the Guptas and after failing to meet top manager Mzwanele Manyi, I felt I couldn’t go on air.”
Mboro, however, would not say what evidence he had to prove his claim.
Yesterday ANN7 responded. “Management can confirm that a meeting was held on Monday to clarify certain matters relating to an agreement to air his gospel show.
“The meeting agreed that there was a breakdown of communication. Matters were clarified and contextualised.
“Pastor Mboro’s main concern relates to the channel’s historical matters such as trading names and the existing brand names.
“ It is common knowledge that the media company has recently been bought from the Gupta family, which owned Oakbay Investments.
“There are old archives that have Gupta history and this has caused confusion in taking this project forward.”
