Social media has been taken by a storm as a new hashtag has flooded all social media platform, the #IamStandingWithMajor1,is trending all over the world as people are coming out to show their solidarity with the Leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
Facebook, Whatsapp , Twitter and Instagram are all awash with hashtgag symbols and solidarity statuses in support of Prophet Bushiri and the (ECG) church amidst the xenophobic persecution attacks that the church and the person of the Prophet is receiving in South Africa, fuelled by an organisation called South Africa National Civic Organisation (SANCO) which is bent at destroying the credibility of the Church and the Prophet.
The hashtags are directed at showing the people’s disgust with the SANCO’s demands to have (ECG) church banned in South Africa and also to lobby for the authorities to depot Prophet Bushiri back to Malawi, a clear manifestation of xenophobic tendencies.
Meanwhile, one of South Africa’s political parties, Black First Land First (BLF), has said the tragic death of three black people at ECG church cannot and should not be used by those who are in competition with Major 1 and by xenophobes for nefarious agendas.
In a statement to the press , BLF leader , Andile Mximate, called on the police to do their work without fear or favour as their findings maybe shrouded by lies and malice aimed to propagate xenophobic agendas against the ECG church and Prophet Bushiri.
“At the same time we ask our people not to be used against Prophet Bushiri by people with evil agendas.
“We have seen such violent actions waged against white Anglican, Catholic and Dutch Churches.
“Despite the existence of irrefutable evidence of sexual violence perpetrated on innocent children and women by the clergy of the white churches, there is no outrage.
“Our people have freedom of religion and we must all respect that. Furthermore, BLF calls on Prophet Bushiri to fully cooperate with the police.
We repeat, please stop the violence against fellow blacks and hands off Prophet Bushiri.”
The freedom fighters have also put their weight in solidarity with Prophet Bushiri , with Lucius Banda writing on his facebook: “This also shall pass Major one will remain Major One . I stand shoulder to shoulder with the beloved son of the soil, Prophet Shepard Bushiri”
