The institution of marriage took an ugly turn for a Harare man after being granted a protection order against his wife whom he accuses of taking his underwear to prophets and threatening to poison him.
Columbus Chijoko told Civil Court magistrate Lazini Ncube last week that he was now even scared to eat at home because of the threats by his wife Alice Takawira (53).
Chijoko said his wife was also in the habit of harassing him at his workplace and assaulting him in front of their children.
However, Alice Takawira told a different story to the court, she claimed her husband applied for the protection order to stop her from questioning him about an alleged extra-marital affair.
She claimed she was tipped off by Chijoko’s workmates that he was having an affair with a colleague.
