CHIREDZI – A senior military officer who is alleged to have led a group of eight soldiers in assaulting a Chikwalakwala bound Chiwara Bus crew has handed himself over to the Police and was remanded in custody last week.
LieutenantSeremani appeared before Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Constance Mutandwa last Friday facing various charges including of assault.
It is the State Case that on February 15, 2018 Seremani led a group of 7 other soldiers who are still at large to manhandle and assault Chiwara bus crew and passengers who were on their way to an undesignated border crossing point at the confluence of Bubi and Limpopo Rivers. The attack left Shepered Matambo a driver and Thomas Macharaga a conductor seriously injured and the bus wheels were deflated while windows were smashed.
Magistrate Mutandwa remanded Seremani in custody and the charges are likely to be altered to armed robbery.
Chiedza Muhwandavaka prosecuted.
