THIS DJ says music has brought him comfort and healing.

Staelasoul, whose real name is Thabo Mooi, is promoting his single Don’t Let Go. He told the People’s Paper his house music album will be available before the end of the year.

He is a police officer, and said music healed him after he was wounded. In 2012 he was shot three times by thugs carrying out a cash in transit heist in Ekurhuleni.

The car he was in had 120 bullet holes in it. Staelasoul said he was lucky that only three bullets hit him.

He lives in Wattville, Ekurhuleni. Years after being healed, he still comes up with fresh beats and has been featured on radio stations.

“Music changed how I see life. It helped me to heal from an experience that almost killed me.

“I thank everyone who supported me through the tough times. My album will be dedicated to my fans and those positive people.”

The DJ has shared the stage with Vinny Da Vinci, Mo Flava, DJ Phobia and others.

He was a Metro FM guest mixer on Whose Show Is It Anyway? hosted by Somizi, Khanyi Mbau and Ntombi.

He is a DJ at Ukhozi FM with Chilli M and Mroza on the Nethezeka Midday Show.
