Drivers have been blamed in the deadly crash that has seen 11 ANC supporters killed and 59 severly injured.
According to Times LIVE, the accident was caused by the drivers attempting to swap seats while the bus was in motion.
Eleven people were killed and at least 58 injured when a bus carrying ANC supporters back to Johannesburg from the party’s election manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth overturned on the N1 between Winburg and Ventersburg in the Free State on Sunday morning‚ Netcare 911 said.
It is reported that the bus was carrying ANC volunteers from ward 60 in Katlehong, East Rand.
Although several reports, including Times LIVE and eNCA, point to the possibility of swapping seats, the Free State department of health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi said that they suspect fatigue as there were no “identifiable obstructions and tyres of the vehicle were intact”.
